Youth Improvement Services is a nonprofit agency that uses a web-based service model to provide assistance to at-risk youth and other disadvantaged individuals in need of services to help them become employable and to live independently.

Deroll Barrett

Workforce Development Professional

Deroll is the Founder and Executive Director of Youth Improvement Services. He has over 15 years of experience working with youth in educational, residential and community settings. He earned a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of the West Indies. Deroll uses this combination of education, experience and skills to provide high-quality services to program participants and stakeholders.

Tamara Vickers

Administrative Professional

Tamara has been a legal administrative professional for over

10 years. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of the West Indies. She has volunteered extensively with organizations that support youth development and also worked in the federally-funded Job Corps program.

Terry Minshall

Technology & Operations Leader

Terry is a technology and operations leader with several years of experience in data analysis, financial assessments and reporting. He has also executed projects from concept to completion. Terry earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Technology Leadership from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He uses his talents to find solutions to improve the lives and future of our at-risk-youth.

TeAndra Walton

Business Owner

TeAndra is a seasoned accounting and tax professional who previously worked with the Mississippi Department of Revenue as an Auditor and Accountant. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Jackson State University. Her extensive experience in accounting, internal controls, bookkeeping and auditing assists us to keep our organization fully compliant with laws, regulations and ordinances.

Othneal Wilson

Education Management Professional

Othneal has been an educator for the over 15 years and is a director in the federally funded Job Corps Program. Mr. Wilson is a subject matter expert in youth development and program management. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master of Education Degree from the University of the West Indies. He is strongly committed to empowering at-risk youth.

Andrew Breland

Licensed Professional Counselor

Andrew is a Licensed Professional Counselor who earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater and a Master of Science in Counselor Education (Clinical Mental Health Counseling) from William Carey University. Andrew is passionate about working with at-risk youth and has extensive experience working with historically excluded populations. He uses his knowledge, professional experience and community connections to help move the organization forward.
